In Loving Memory… A Tribute to the Children & Families of the Connecticut School Tragedy

Sandy Hook Children Collage Never Forget

‘Twas 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38

When 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven’s gate

Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air

They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there

They were filled with such joy, they didn’t know what to say

They remembered nothing that happened earlier that tragic day

“Where are we?” asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.

“This is heaven.” declared a small boy. “We’re spending Christmas at God’s house.

“When what to their wondering eyes did appear

But Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.

He lovingly gazed at them and smiled, and they smiled back just the same.

Then He opened His arms as He called them by name.

Come Charlotte, Olivia, Dylan and Chase,

Emilie, Josephine, Noah and Grace,

Come Allison, Catherine, Ana and Jack;

There was Daniel and Jessica as he looked back.

Come Benjamin, Avielle, Jesse and James,

Caroline, Madeline; his eyes tearing up as he finished their names.

When roll call was finished, 20 young Angels received their new wings.

He lamented that they’d be able to do all sorts of things.

Then he asked them all to close their eyes.

Jesus told them he had brought along another surprise.

Six special teachers and guardians they’d all recognize,

Who only moments ago protected and hugged them during their cries.

Jesus would not allow them to suffer in pain,

So he whisked them away to a better place again.

And as that moment brought comfort and joy only heaven can bring

Those children all flew into the arms of their Savior and King.

And as they lingered in the warmth of His gentle embrace,

One small child turned and looked at Jesus’ face.

And as if He could read all the questions she had

He gently whispered to her, “I’ll take care of mom and dad.

“Then He looked down on earth, the world far below

He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe

Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,

“Let My power and presence re-enter this land!”

“May this country be delivered from the evil deeds of fools”

“I’m taking back my nation. I’m taking back my schools!”

Then He and the children stood up without making a sound.

“Come now my children, let me show you around.”

A wave of excitment enveloped the space,

A new sense of adventure overwhelmed the place.

As Jesus guided them on their journey to the new Promised Land,

Angels filled the heavens like oceans washing up on sand

As the kids followed Jesus, some skipped and some ran.

All displaying enthusiasm that only small children can.

And i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,

“In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.”

I also personally added several more lines and changed a few other lines around to make this even more meaningful in hopes this may put a small smile on a loved ones face to help them get through these tough emotional times in the early aftermath of this horrific event. Please know that the nation, actually the world, mourns with you.

20 Children

20 children won’t have their first kiss.

20 children won’t know what it feels like to graduate.

20 children won’t know what it feels like to have their heart broken, and then repaired again.

20 children won’t go to prom.

20 children won’t know what true love feels like.

20 children wont know what it’s like to have their first job.

20 children won’t know what it’s like to get their licence.

20 children won’t ever have the chance to get married.

20 children won’t know what it feels like to be accepted to college.

20 children will not get to run down the stairs in excitment this Christmas.

20 children won’t know what it feels like to turn 21 with their friends.

20 children won’t be able to have children of their own.

20 children won’t ever know how they made us realize we all took life for granted.

RIP to all the innocent souls.

Heaven gained beautiful angles today.
