New Year’s Eve – 11:59pm – Out with the OLD
New Year’s Day – 12 midnight – In with the NEW

New Year’s Eve as well as New Year’s Day are both associated with partying, some people prefer being out among the masses of people celebrating while others would rather be at home with loved ones celebrating. Many of us grew up watching Guy Lombardo and His Orchestra around the midnight hour during the late 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s — as well as Dick Clark during the 70′s, 80′s, 90′s and into the new millenium.During the past decade there have beena few other mainstream alternatives such as Carson Daly as well as several cable television specials. Other alternative choices have included events at local bars or pubs, movies, concerts, casinos, video game marathons, ballroom dancing, public firework shows, family game night with the kids, train excursions, party boats on the river, and the choices go on and on.
While there are “tons” of party type songs out there to choose from – from every imaginable genre of music – the focus here are on songs that basically reflect or pay tribute to the end of one year or the beginning of the coming new year – or may contain “New Years” within the song title or within the lyrics – even included are a few that focus on a “countdown” of sorts.
So, for your listening pleasure and putting together a party playlist, you may want to consider the following…..
